Dreamy all natural eye cream

Until about 6 months ago, I had to carry some form of ID around with me, in order to buy wine from the shops. It used to annoy the heck out of me. Thirty years old and still needing to show some ID. Now, I don’t even get a second look, and do you know what, I think it’s the tiny wrinkles that have began to form around my eyes, that are giving my age away.

For the past six years, I’ve survived on a diet of basically chocolate and coffee, I’ve had a baby sleeping next to me/on me in bed at night, and I’ve unknowingly been slathering toxin filled creams all over my face.. and I guess it’s all caught up with me!

I have high hopes that this jam packed nutrient eye cream will stop me from looking any older for a little while!

I have used Shae butter as my thickening base. This stuff has been said to be a superfood for the skin, and after using it for the last month, I can totally see why. It is full of fatty acids, vitamins A & E, and aids in the skins natural collagen production. It keeps skin supple and nourished, and helps to prevent/smooth out those wrinkles!

So, the first thing to do is melt down your Shae butter. I used approximately four tablespoons, but if you are using a smaller jar than mine, you may only want to use two or three. I have also up until now, been melting it down in a self assembled double boiler, but this time I put the Shae butter straight into the saucepan, which worked just fine too. I got my Shae butter here.

Once your Shae butter is melted down to liquid form, take it off the heat and add Sweet Almond oil. I added 2-3 tablespoons, but again, if you are using a smaller jar than mine you can lower this. Almond oil, like the Shae butter, is packed full of vitamins A & E. The retinol in vitamin A has the ability to stimulate the production of new skin cells, therefore smoothing out those fine lines! I get my Sweet Almond oil here.

Next add two tablespoons of Castor Oil. Castor oil is one of my absolute favourite ingredients to use, I put it in almost everything. It possesses humectant properties, which means it has the ability to draw in moisture from the air, and lock it into your skin! I love the Pukka oil here.

Add one teaspoon of honey. You can go as pricey as you wish with the honey, there are some really great Manuka’s available. I liked the sound of this one containing lavender!

Lastly, add the essential oils. For anybody who doesn’t know what essential oils are, they are concentrated plant extracts, steam distilled from the plant. So basically, Mother Earth’s magic juice! For this recipe I used 20 drops of carrot seed, and 20 drops of rosemary. Rosemary in particular is full of antioxidants that help to ease fine lines and wrinkles, and increase the circulation of skin cells. Carrot seed has anti-aging, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, so is a power house for the skin!

Getting my essential oil starter kit was perhaps the best investment I ever made, as it introduced me to a complete new world of skincare, cleaning products, and just over all wellness in general. This cream feels like silk on my skin. I hope you guys love it if you try it! X
